Okay, look…I loved my Galaxy S6 except that the Bluetooth radio was starting to go bad on me and I live on my Bluetooth headset. Besides, after so many Android updates the CPU was having a little difficulty keeping up. I know, I know, I could have not installed the updates but that’s just not the way I was made!
So I go to my Verizon store and look at the new S9 and think “I could use a bigger screen” so I look at the S9+. However, my wife and daughter are big Apple “fan gurls” and have been teasing me to get an iPhone but I’ve held my ground since Android is for techies and iPhones are for noobs. (Seriously…I did not call my wife a noob LOL). In the end, I went with the S9+, which was my first (and last) curved screen phone.
Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t hate the curved screen. The functionality of it is not diminished for me but I don’t see any benefit derived from it either. Maybe there are things the curved edge can do for me that I’m not aware of? I am after all, one of those people who keeps my phone in a highly protective case so that might be affecting the value I get from the curve. The real issue I have is with the curved glass screen protector not sticking to the edges and my OCD side really hates that. It’s my second screen protector too.
Overall this phone is great. I really enjoy the larger screen and it’s not so large that I can’t carry it like my S6. The newer hardware definitely runs my apps much better and the camera on this thing is excellent, which is a big part of what I use my phone for. Overall, I love the phone but really wish I had a flat screen as an option. For this I’ll give my S9+ 4 out of 5 stars.
